It is really hard for me to actually believe that Madison is old enough to go to Young Women's Camp. She turns 12 the week they get home so our Stake's policy is to let kids in the same grade stay together. It turned out to be such a blessing. Madison's best friend would have gone and she would have been left behind. Moving out of this ward has been Madison's biggest stress so it is so wonderful that they help give her such great memories to leave with.
Madison left for girls camp at 7 am Saturday morning. She was so excited. She created GoogleDoc Checklists for me to know what we had, we had to purchase and what we had to borrow. She loves to be organized. She is so funny.
So amid moving (we were still bringing loads from the town house) we bagged up Madison and sent her off. It will be so weird. She has never been away from us for that long. She had done other camps, but they were just weekender once. A lot of my friends have commented that they would never be able to do that. I hadn't given it a thought that I had a choice. It is just a huge rite of passage- and my daughter was beyond excited to go.
They don't use tents, they just sleep under the stars. (That is still a little amazing to me...) Because of this it was very important to bring unscented everything. Luckily they don't do their major hike until 2nd year so we didn't have to worry about breaking in hiking boots.
It was so sweet. Payton raced out of bed to give Madison a good-bye hug. Sisters are so funny. They
drive you crazy, yet you love them so much and would do anything for them.
They are two peas in a pod.
Good luck Madison and we can't wait to hear all of your adventures.

Oh--Lauren went to Youth Conference last week--3 days on a college campus away from home. I felt much the way you do. We ALL missed her terribly. Good luck to Madison
